My early years of archery started when
my family moved to a ranch close to the Missouri River in Platte, SD
in 1979. My dad Gary taught my brother and I a lot
about the outdoors how to build stick bows out of
Willow
tree branches, use twine for string and carve arrows from
Cedar trees. Just getting the arrow to fly was a
challenge for us. We would occasionally find arrow
heads and wonder about who once lived along the river and
the bows and arrows they had build from scratch to survive.
My brother and I loved the outdoors and everything
associated with it.
The enthusiasm continued when I
received a pair of binoculars for Christmas one year and
asked for a compound bow instead of a class ring in high
school. A Bear Whitetail is what I chose and spent
many days learning, practicing, and small game hunting. I
matured quickly as a bow hunter teaching myself to
appreciate and love the experience rather than to get
frustrated over the mistakes I had made.
Bow hunting and the outdoors are my obsession and I am
fortunate to have a family that tolerates and enjoys
sharing it with me, wife, Shauna and 2 kids, Austin and
Payton. We spend as much time as possible camping,
fishing, checking & hanging stands and trail cams, shed
hunting, anything out-of-doors. We currently live in
Wolsey,
South Dakota where I work as
Operations Manager for McGillvrey Oil; we cover central SD
providing quality petroleum products and service to
farmers, ranchers, construction, residential, etc...
Thank you for spending time with the
Bowhunt’n Brothers, hopefully we fueled your
fire for “living the obsession”
