My earliest hunting and fishing memories
stem back to my gradeschool days; walking fields and
retrieving pheasants and grouse, staying up 'til midnight
collecting night crawlers in the rain, and weekend summer
trips to the Missouri River for walleye, all with my
dad, Gary.
My family moved to Platte, SD in 1979 and my love
for the outdoors grew. Younger brother, Joel, shared
my experiences. Whether hunting along the cedar filled
creeks and rugged breaks of the Missouri or fishing,
with a jig from an inner-tube or a spear in Platte Creek.
The Hettinger brothers entered our lives in 1985, and
our mutual love for the outdoors sparked an ongoing
friendship. I was introduced to bowhunting when Joel
showed off his new Mathews shooting a 3-D target in
his yard. In 2001, I bought an old, left-handed 'Bear
Kodiak', and the obsession began.
I am lucky to have a family that is tolerant of my
bowhunting passion. Wife Jill, a daughter (16),
and two sons (15 & 12) have
all spent time with me in the field. In November of
2006, Carter filled his first archery tag with a 4X4
Whitetail at the age of 14. I am proud to be passing
the torch.
We hope you enjoy our experiences as much as we love
capturing, on film, the adventures and 'Living the Obsession'. |
